Twin Cities & The Indian State

As human beings, how much do we want? Actually! What do we want? As far I am concerned I want to be myself with my people in my town while being open to welcome everyone and to travel to where ever my mind shepherds me without being made to feel alienated or foreign.

Arent we human being a simple sect of living beings at a basic level needing shelter, comfort, food, drink, sex, entertainment, rest & safetly.
The borders around the world are sinking & the world is shrinking. Yet amidst the Incredible Idea of India there are motivated politicians misguiding the gullible & impressionable with limiting motives.

It has not yet been 6 plus decades since we earned our sovereignty, yet there are people in the sections of the society to further their political careers stir up a hornets next. Our nation is not a jigsaw puzzle for the playful politician.

And here is a State which was half submerged a month ago, a state which lost an elected peoples champion, a State fighting to stay afloat financially, A State ravaged by corruption & corporate scandals ,a State which is constantly in the eye of the terror map and yet the politician morons instead of meeting the basic amenities of those rendered homeless are busy breaking hearts, breaking buses, breaking rules and breaking a Golden State into pieces.

Politicians instead of igniting minds of the young to unlock their unbridled potential are fuelling contempt and pointless agitation leading them to set themselves ablaze sacrificing promising lives for prominent politicians & their parochial mentality.

The irony is that the State which the folks want to divide has a capital which is a twin city. Telugu, the largest spoken Indian language and Telugus, the most hospitable hosts in the heart of India are better off cemented as a single State. This is my personal view.

They call me a Hyderabadi with my Hindi accent and a Madrasi by my English accent. I wish the folks recognised me for my Indian accent rather than any other accent. And what is an Indian accent. It is same as people who understand when you express the need of a hot cuppa Chai or Kapi where ever you travel across Indian on a cold winter morning guide you to a place where you get one or be offered one.

The Indian accent has a flavor that irrespective of the caste, sect or religion, a simple meal with Dal,rice or chapatti is great good food for a guest whenever he walks in to our homes unannounced.

The Indian Accent is that of the warmth we exude in wishing our friends from Maharastra,Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal,Gujrat,Karnataka,Tamil Nadu , Delhi etc etc with same degree of fervour and festivity on a Christmas, Eid, Dusherra as we do on Diwali or Pongal.

Do we think of all the division and borders when we lose our selves playing with colors on holi ?

Its time we resisted the parochial view & ideologies. Let there be no one who harm my home Hyderabad or snatch the identity of a Secunderabai .

Let no one make the mistake of further dividing my Mother “India”. To me my Hyderabad is a paradise I am proud of the pearl city , a jewel in the State of India.

To me bridging the digital divide and forging the Urban India & Rural Bharat is far more important than any agitation seeking statehood. The promise that India is so near to realising a status of a responsible superpower is too precious an opportunity to let go amiss.

Oh , Yes , there are places in our large nation where development is sparse and disproportionate, there still exists inequality and injustice. But violent agitation is most unlike our nations struggle for freedom that we enjoy so frivolously today.

Amplifying the problem agitates the masses, amplifying the solutions empowers the Individuals. Teaching individuals self help both liberates them from their issues as well as immeasurably levitate their self-worth & self respect.

We all Indians live in an “Indian State” and lets STATE this loud and clear to all those who disrupt us from within. Lets us be reassured from within to take on the enemy lurking outside our nation’s borders. That is about the only Border I am willing to give my life defending. Not for scaling any petty compound walls dividing the house of my brothers & sisters of this proud nation.

Lord Rama ..save us from Ram Sena:-(

Gradually the Hindu's of the present age in India will come to terms with the plight of Indian Muslims. As a Hindu I am ashamed that a party bearing the name of our most revered Hindu deity Lord Sri Ram has been sullied. Lord Ram stood for a symbol of tolerance and there are numerous instances of his respect to women which can be derived from Ramayana. Maryadha Purushottam as he is known never ever would tolerate such heinous acts from his followers.

In a free society the onus of morality is in self governance. The society should exhibit tolerance and allow the state to manage situations if they are having the potential to blow up harmony & peace.

The idea and culture of India is evolving every day. And the hall mark of an evolution of the society is the proof of equality amongst the citizens. Be it Man or a Woman. Women need to be respected and their liberty should not be contained. If at best you should prevail as a state then the rights and rules should be equally applied to both men and women.

Islamic Fundamentalism is a bane of most societies around the world. Tolerance has been the greatest asset of Hinduism. Recent spate of the ugly Hindu fundamental activities by idiots will be detrimental to the image of India.

It is enough that several innocent Muslim friends in India are wrongly being labeled for issues such as terror and divisive mandates perpetrated by a clutch of few miscreants.

As Hindus we too are in grave danger to being labeled due to the mindless hooliganism of outfits like Ram Sena. Let nip these sprouts in the bud and liberate the Indian state. Ram Sainiks as listed in the news item below we supposedly agitating and reacting to obscenity indulged by girls in the bar. On the count the most obscene behavior would be by the bunch of men beating women in public and endangering the girl’s lives. Who will police these goons?

States like BJP should be all the more vigilant and handle these issues with an iron fist if they want to emerge and be viewed as a secular national party.

New Delhi Jan 26 2009: Nearly 24 hours after men allegedly affiliated with Hindu hardliner group the Ram Sena attacked a pub in Mangalore and beat up women, Karnataka government seems to have finally woken up to it.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the state police will take appropriate action. “Mangalore incident is very unfortunate. Police are doing what they have to. Ten people have already been arrested and remanded to judicial custody till January 27,” he said.
However, Karnataka police went on a defensive, blaming the media instead. DGP, R Srikumar said, “I want to ask, when the media knew, why did they not inform the police? If they know of such an incident, they (must) be hand in glove, you must inform. It is your duty”.
The activists alleged that the pub owner was allowing the boys and girls to dance in an 'obscene manner'. Home Minister V S Acharya told PTI in Manipal that stringent action would be initiated against those involved in the assault.
The Sri Ram Sena was founded by Pramod Muthalik, a former RSS member and Bajrang Dal Chief.
Speaking with CNN-IBN from Maharashtra, Muthalik defended his organisation and said it was not a big issue and that the media was blowing it out of proportion.
“It’s a small incident and we were only working against obscenity in public. You are not talking about the issue, which is obscenity and inappropriate behaviour,” he said.
Muthalik - who was also the Karnataka Chief of the Shiv Sena but parted ways with them over the Belgaum border issue - also said Ram Sena was a non-profit organisation and its objective was to “serve the society and prevent bad begaviour”.
Muthalik fielded candidates against the BJP in the 2008 Assembly elections but lost.
Sri Ram Sena is not new to controversy. In 2007, its cadres attacked the house of M Karunanidhi's daughter Selvi at the height of protests on the Cauvery issue.
It was also allegedly involved in the attack on Churches. His name figures in failed bomb blasts in Hubli last year.
